How do I know if this program is right for me?
Is my business too large or small to apply?
That’s a great question – and there’s no easy answer! We are looking for businesses that have an existing track record of impact in New England, and a genuine commitment to grow that impact through purpose-driven work.
What is the time commitment needed from me for the program?
In order for this experience to be as valuable as possible, we ask residents to set aside weekly availability to dedicate to the program. Make it Matter will require time and attention both during sessions and outside of them.
In general, the requested availability is 4 day-long sessions occurring weekly on Wednesdays in March and April, with an additional 2-5 hours/week required outside of sessions.
Please note in your application if you have any specific scheduling/availability concerns.
What do you mean by mission, impact, and purpose?
We use mission, impact, and purpose to describe the motivation and meaning behind our work. A mission is a north star, guiding decision making and lending tangible goals and metrics to a business. Purpose contextualizes a mission, grounding it within specific community context and needs. Finally, impact refers to the measurable and incremental results of executing the mission.
I work at a small business, but am not a founder/in a leadership role, can I apply on behalf of the business?
Yes! Though we strongly encourage you to write your application in collaboration with a leader/founder.
How many staff members can be present/involved in the residency?
There’s no simple answer to this question! We will work together with residents to determine the right amount of people from your business to be present for each session.
We do however ask that a maximum of three decision makers are designated throughout the course of the residency.
